Would Google or ChatGPT confidently recommend your business?
A realistic local visibility checklist that helps search engines, AI tools and customers understand what your business does.
There is no secret switch that makes an AI assistant recommend a business. The useful work is more grounded. Make the business easy to crawl, easy to understand, consistent across trusted sources and supported by evidence a person would also value.
Understand what local discovery is built on
Google explains local results through three broad factors: relevance, distance and prominence. You can improve relevance by describing services accurately. You cannot change the searcher's distance. You can strengthen prominence through a complete presence, genuine reviews, useful content and mentions that build confidence over time.
Google also says its AI search experiences use the same core SEO foundations. Pages still need to be crawlable, technically sound and useful. There is no special AI file or magic wording that replaces this work.
Create one reliable business fact sheet
Use this fact sheet as the source for your website, Google Business Profile and other important profiles. Small differences are normal, but contradictory hours, names, services or locations create uncertainty for customers and machines.
- Exact business name and a short plain-language description
- Services you actually provide and services you do not provide
- Areas served, address rules and whether customers visit you
- Opening hours, phone, email and booking method
- Typical process, response time and what affects price
- Qualifications, guarantees, team experience and real proof
- The five questions customers ask before choosing
Build pages around useful decisions
- Give important services a clear home
A focused service page can explain the problem, who the service suits, the process, proof, location and next step better than one long list.
- Answer real questions
Use calls, enquiries and reviews to identify questions about cost, timing, fit, risk and what happens next. Give direct answers before adding detail.
- Show who is responsible
Add real names, experience, contact details and an honest explanation of how the advice was created or reviewed.
- Connect related information
Use descriptive internal links so a visitor and a crawler can move from a service to a case example, FAQ, booking step or relevant article.
Structured data is a label, not a shortcut
Organisation, local business, service, article and video markup can help search engines interpret information. The markup must match what visitors can see. It cannot turn a weak claim into proof, and Google does not guarantee a special search appearance just because markup exists.
The same principle applies to AI-written content. Google says generative tools can help with research and structure, but producing many low-value pages may violate spam policies. Publish fewer pages with original expertise, accurate details and a clear purpose.
Run a 60 minute visibility audit
- Search the exact business name and check what a new customer sees
- Search the main service plus the town or service area
- Compare the website and Google Business Profile for names, hours, services and contact details
- Ask an AI assistant what information it can verify and inspect the sources it cites
- Open the website on a phone and confirm that key pages and buttons work
- Choose the single missing fact or proof item that would remove the most uncertainty
What to improve first
Begin with accuracy, not volume. Complete the Google Business Profile, clarify the most valuable service page, request reviews from real customers without incentives, and publish one genuinely helpful answer to a repeated question.
This work is possible without an agency. If consistency, technical setup or regular improvement is hard to maintain alongside customer work, Estarwork can organise the foundation, implement the pages and leave the accounts and process in your ownership.
